WEATHER

Hi There New Trier Township Dog Owners! My name is Stephanie and I'm the owner of Benny's Groovy Grooming in Wilmette. At Benny's, our top priority is providing a calm and relaxing grooming experience for your furry friend. I offer both in-home grooming services where I come to you, or dog taxi service to my in-home salon.

Because I keep my overhead costs low, I'm able to limit my daily appointments and give each pup the individual attention and care they deserve. This allows me to focus on customer service and creating the perfect groom for your doggo.

If you're looking for a groomer who will treat your dog like one of the family, please check out my website at bennysgroovygrooming.com to learn more or schedule an appointment. I look forward to meeting you and your pup soon!

PUBLIC SERVICE RECALLS:

Kid’s Nightgowns Recalled

A popular brand of children's nightgowns has been recalled due to a potential burn hazard, the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission announced Tuesday.

Over 13,000 iMOONZZZ nightgowns sold exclusively on Amazon.com between March and June of this year are impacted by the recall. The recalled nightgowns fail to meet federal flammability standards for children's sleepwear, posing a risk of burn injuries to children.

The recalled iMOONZZZ nightgowns were manufactured in China and sold in a variety of colors, prints, and sizes. A sewn-in side seam label indicates washing instructions.

No injuries have been reported so far. The Consumer Product Safety Commission is urging parents to immediately take the recalled nightgowns away from children and stop using them. Anyone who purchased the iMOONZZZ nightgowns can contact the company for a refund.

This important recall alerts parents to a potential danger and aims to prevent burns and other injuries. The Consumer Product Safety Commission is overseeing the recall to keep Americans safe.

Cantaloupes Sold in Illinois and Other States Recalled Due to Salmonella Risk

A recall has been issued for cantaloupes sold in several states, including Illinois, due to potential salmonella contamination. The melons were grown by Sofia Produce in Arizona and sold under the Trufresh brand between October 16 and October 23.

The Food and Drug Administration is advising consumers to discard any cantaloupes purchased during this timeframe, regardless of size, that have cardboard packaging labeled with the Malichita brand name. The cantaloupes also have individual stickers marked with the word Malichita and the number 4050.

According to the FDA, the potentially affected cantaloupes were distributed directly to retailers in Arizona, California, Maryland, New Jersey, Tennessee, Michigan, Wisconsin, Texas, Florida, and Illinois. The warning also extends to Canada.

No illnesses have been reported so far in connection with this recall. Consumers who purchased these cantaloupes are advised to throw them away and sanitize any surfaces the melons may have touched.

Ravinia Festival Sues Ravinia Brewing Over Trademark

The Ravinia Festival Association has filed a federal lawsuit against Ravinia Brewing Company, claiming the microbrewery is infringing on its trademark by using the name Ravinia. The music festival previously tried to charge licensing fees and get ownership of the brewery's name. After public backlash, the two reached a restricted agreement in 2018. Now the festival alleges Ravinia Brewing violated that deal by opening a second location and disregarding name font sizes. Ravinia Brewing denies the claims, arguing the lawsuit wastes charitable funds. The suit objects to the brewery's music-themed beer names and social media posts showing people drinking its beer at the festival. Ravinia Festival reported $9.5 million income in 2021, while Ravinia Brewing has over $500,000 annual revenue since 2019 per a former employee's lawsuit.

BULLS UPCOMING SCHEDULE

Spread Holiday Cheer with Caring Neighbors

The Caring Neighbors program at New Trier Township has long provided gifts to local families facing financial hardship during the holidays. For years, our generous community members have stepped up to sponsor a neighbor in need.

While parents rarely submit their own wish lists, sponsors often include gift cards for the parents as well. The program keeps both donors and recipients confidential. To protect privacy, township staff distribute the gifts during private appointments with the families. How You Can Help: Township staff identify and qualify families in need of holiday gifts for their children. The families submit wish lists with items their children would enjoy and make good use of. Donors then sponsor a family and purchase age-appropriate gifts for the children. To learn more about sponsoring a local family this holiday season, please contact Jeanne Winsted Rosser at (847) 446-8201 or [email protected]. Your generosity will spread holiday cheer to our neighbors in need.
